Frequently asked questions
What do the colors and arrows mean?
- Green / Exact: that attribute matches.
- Yellow / Close or partial: the debut year is within two years, Worlds appearances are within one, or the nationality lists overlap.
- Red / Different: no match within those rules.
- Up and down arrows: the target’s number is higher or lower than your guess. For debut years, a higher number means a later debut.
Matching all six clues does not automatically identify the player: you must guess the target’s actual handle. Several players can share the same attributes.
What do the six clues mean?
Team, role and league use the player’s Worlds 2026 roster. They either match exactly or differ; there are no partial matches for these clues. Team names remain fixed for this edition, even after a transfer.
Nationality uses documented nationality, not league residency or birthplace. A player can have multiple nationalities. Identical lists are exact; a shared nationality is partial. Country names are written out.
Tier-one debut means the calendar year of the player’s first actual game in a top domestic league, including substitute appearances. Academy, second division, preseason cups and merely signing a contract do not count. Historical top leagues such as the TCL, OPL, VCS, LMS and PCS count in the seasons when they were top-level competitions. The official LCK Cup season stage counts.
Worlds appearances counts distinct Worlds editions, including 2026 and play-ins. It is not the number of matches or main-stage appearances. For the current edition, qualification counts even before the team’s first scheduled game.
Which players are included?
This edition includes 96 players from all 19 qualified teams: the five-player starting rosters plus SanSan, who played as a substitute for MGN Vikings Esports. Players from eliminated play-in teams remain in the pool. Unused substitutes are excluded.
The roster and career clues are frozen as of October 20, 2026. The pool is shared by the English and German games.
When does the puzzle reset and are guesses saved?
A new target arrives every day at 00:00 UTC. Everyone gets the same player from a fixed sequence, regardless of language or local timezone. The 96-player sequence repeats after a complete cycle. Your device clock determines which day is shown.
When you find the player, your total guess count appears after the final clue is revealed. Your clue board stays visible.
Guesses last for the current visit. Reloading or leaving the page starts a fresh board. A new day also starts a fresh board, including if you leave the page open overnight.
How do keyboard and mobile controls work?
Type a handle and choose a matching suggestion with the pointer or the up/down arrow keys and Enter. Press Enter again or use the guess button to submit. Escape closes the suggestions. Handle matching ignores capitalization and spaces. Use Tab to focus the clue board, then scroll sideways on narrow screens. On a touchscreen, swipe across the board. Colors are accompanied by text labels, and numeric directions are also announced to screen readers.
Where does the data come from?
The official Worlds primer documents the event. Rosters were cross-checked against the qualified teams report and event roster. SanSan’s interview confirms his participation.
