How to play

Find the daily destination somewhere on Berlin’s U-Bahn network. Search for a station, select a suggestion, and submit your guess. Each guess reveals seven comparisons with the mystery station. Follow the clues until you name the exact station; you have unlimited guesses.

Frequently asked questions

What do the seven clues mean?
  • U-Bahn lines: All normal U-Bahn lines serving the station. Green means the complete set matches; amber means at least one line is shared; red means no lines are shared.
  • Borough: The Berlin administrative borough, not the smaller neighbourhood or Ortsteil. For boundary stations, this edition uses the locality assigned in the source station list: for example, Platz der Luftbrücke uses Kreuzberg and therefore Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
  • Structure: Underground, elevated (including embankments), surface / cutting (ground level or an open cutting), or mixed. Interchanges with underground and elevated U-Bahn platforms are mixed. Rathaus Schöneberg is also mixed because its enclosed station opens onto the park at ground level. Only the U-Bahn part counts.
  • First opening: The first year of U-Bahn passenger service at that station, including its direct predecessor before rebuilding or relocation. An up arrow means the target opened later; a down arrow means earlier. Only the same year is an exact match.
  • S-Bahn connection: Whether the source network identifies an S-Bahn interchange, including walking connections such as Alt-Tegel–Tegel and Kaiserdamm–Messe Nord/ICC. This is not a promise of a shared platform.
  • Direction: The arrow points from your guessed station towards the target using geographical coordinates, not the direction of travel along a line. It rotates continuously; a compass label names the nearest of eight directions. At the target, it reads “Destination reached”.
  • Stops away: The fewest U-Bahn station-to-station hops to the target, allowing transfers at interchanges. An adjacent station is 1 stop away, and the target itself is 0. The starting station is excluded and the destination included. Transfers add no extra stops. S-Bahn, buses and walking shortcuts do not count. The normal network is used, ignoring temporary works.

All comparisons include words as well as colours. The first five values describe your guessed station. Direction and stops away describe the route from that guess to the hidden destination; their blue cells are guidance, not mismatched attributes.

Which stations are included?

The November 2026 edition contains 175 distinct stations across U1–U9. Interchanges count once, combining their U-Bahn lines. Permanently closed stations such as Französische Straße, Nürnberger Platz and Osthafen are excluded; stations temporarily closed for works remain in the normal network. Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Straße uses its current name; its former name Mohrenstraße is accepted in search. Names with umlauts also accept ae, oe and ue, and ß accepts ss.

This is a frozen game dataset, not live travel information. Construction work does not alter the clues during a puzzle. For an actual journey, consult BVG.

How can I narrow down the destination?

Start with an interchange to test several lines, then use the borough to choose an area. The opening-year arrow can separate historic central stations from later extensions. Use the direction arrow to choose the right part of the city, then the stop count to judge how far to travel through the U-Bahn network.

Some neighbours opened together and have identical attributes. Six matching clues do not end the game unless you have guessed the exact station.

How do the controls, restart and daily reset work?

Type a name or part of a name to search. Use the up and down arrow keys to browse suggestions, Enter to select, and Enter again to submit. Escape closes the suggestions. You can also tap or click a suggestion and the submit button. On a narrow screen, swipe the table sideways; keyboard users can focus the table and scroll with the left and right arrow keys.

Restart clears your guesses but keeps today’s destination. Guesses are kept only during the current visit; reloading starts over. A new shared puzzle begins at midnight UTC, which is 01:00 in Berlin in winter and 02:00 in summer. Both languages use the same 175-day sequence. The device clock determines the day.

Where do the station facts come from?

Station facts were researched on November 4, 2026, from Wikipedia contributors’ list of Berlin U-Bahn stations, accessed through its DeWiki mirror, with VBB network plans, BVG line information, Berlin’s borough/locality records and station histories used for checks and normalization. Each guessed station links to its individual source. Coordinates come from the station list’s WGS84 location links, taking the first listed U-Bahn platform for interchanges. Ordered U1–U9 stops come from the BVG line pages; the normally served Alt-Tegel section of U6 remains included during construction works.

The adapted station dataset credits Wikipedia contributors and is available under CC BY-SA 4.0; contributor history. Changes include merging platform rows, translating structure groups, deriving boroughs, adding station coordinates and normal-network routes, updating names and correcting opening years to include predecessor stations. The game code and original route illustrations are separate from the adapted dataset. This is a source-backed first edition, not a claim that every fact has been independently verified against original construction records.
